A
brief over view of the
harvest to lumber
process.
Eastern
Mountain Red Cedar
traditionally, due to the
small size of the trees,
has not been harvested
for logs and dimensional
lumber.
With
the development of new
technologies it has
become practical to
harvest these superior
lumber trees.
Eastern
Mountain Red Cedar is
many times denser than
western red cedar thus
making it a much more
desirable material for
construction in area's
and applications where
the lumber is exposed to
the elements.
Its
superior denseness is
what makes Eastern Red
Cedar have a higher
insulation value than
spruce, pine, fir,
eastern white, or even
western red cedar.
Eastern
Mountain Red Cedar has
been used for fence posts
for over a hundred years.
These posts will last
more than fifty years in
the ground without
utilizing any manmade
treatment or
preservatives.
